Applicants will be selected for interviews based on an evaluation of training, education, and experience for the position available. Seasonal Mosquito Control Technician
(Approximately: Apr - Sept) Position Description:
Seasonal employees work under direction of the Field Operations Supervisor, Field Operations Foreman, or Mosquito Control Technicians. Most work will be in the field, entailing inspection and larvicidal treatment of creeks, catch basins, drains, salt marsh areas, miscellaneous sources, and stocking mosquito fish in backyard ponds. This position also includes preparing materials and equipment for work assignments, service requests, clearing access ways, some drainage maintenance, general maintenance, housekeeping, and assistance with frequent or routine needs. Seasonal employees are required to work dependably and cooperatively with others, maintain and appreciate safety precautions, and operate some specialized equipment. Seasonal Mosquito Technicians will operate right-hand drive vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate
- 18 Years of age or over
- Possess a valid California driver's license to be insurable by automobile liability insurance companies, shall meet the current standards acceptable to the District's current automobile insurance carrier to qualify for, or continue employment with the District. (See Employee Manual, sub-section 2.15).
Working Conditions:
- 40-hour workweek: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Paid District Holidays
- No paid vacation or sick leave time.
- Time off for College registration may be arranged.

Seasonal Laboratory Assistant
(Approximately: June - Sept)
Position Description:
Position entails assisting Lab personnel with varied scientific procedures including but not limited to working with animals (chicken flocks and rodents), insect identification and insect survey work. Some computer entry work using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access programs. Light maintenance and household clean up.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or equivalent. Biology background preferred.
- 18 Years of age or over
- Possess a valid California driver's license to be insurable by automobile liability insurance companies, shall meet the current standards acceptable to the District's current automobile insurance carrier to qualify for, or continue employment with the District. Part-Time Front Desk Representative
(Approximately: March - October)
Position Description:
Under direction of the Finance Administrator, this candidate will also be responsible for answering incoming telephone calls; provide general information to the public, other agencies and individuals, greet visitors and vendors, transfer calls, record incoming requests for service, communicating with other staff using two-way radio and miscellaneous front office duties, which may include faxing, copying, opening and distributing mail and small general office tasks. Candidate will also be responsible for daily data entries consisting of Operations department services into Microsoft Access database. Assisting with additional office tasks may be included.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or equivalent. Biology background preferred.
- 18 Years of age or over
